RYT® 500

I teach yoga as a practical path for cultivating balance, awareness, and steadiness in the midst of everyday life.

Through movement, breath, and focused attention, my classes invite students to explore the connection between physical practice and inner stability. Whether in weekly classes, immersive journeys, or smaller circles, my aim is to help people build practices that support resilience, curiosity, and meaningful engagement with the world around them.

My yoga journey began in New York City in the summer of 1992. After stretching, sweating, and eventually surrendering into savasana, I discovered something unexpected: a deep sense of calm that stayed with me long after the class ended. What began as a complement to an active lifestyle gradually became a steady thread running through the fabric of my life.

For many years I practiced primarily in the Chapel Hill and Carrboro yoga communities with teachers rooted in alignment-based traditions, including Sommer Paris Sobin, Paul Sobin, Hannah Byrum, Lauren Sacks, and Patricia Mickelberry. During those years my weekly yoga practice was complemented by other movement disciplines and physical pursuits. I eventually earned a first-degree black belt in To-shin Do, a martial art rooted in the ancient Japanese ninja traditions, and became deeply involved in endurance running and early morning workouts with the F3 Churham men’s fitness community.

In 2024 I stepped into formal yoga teaching, completing a 200-hour teacher training and later that year an immersive 300-hour advanced training at the Sattva Yoga Academy in Rishikesh, India. In 2026 I returned to Rishikesh to complete Sattva’s Master Training Program under the guidance of Anand Mehrotra and his teaching team. These studies deepened my connection to Himalayan Kriya Yoga, pranayama, meditation, and the broader philosophical traditions of yoga.

Today I teach flow classes that integrate breath awareness, thoughtful sequencing, and carefully curated music to create practices that are both accessible and engaging. I also lead Kriya Yoga journeys, meditation workshops, and men’s circles, and occasionally offer introductory series such as Yoga Basics for Men.

Before focusing on yoga teaching, I spent nearly three decades practicing law and working with entrepreneurs, scientists, and investors building innovative companies. That experience continues to shape how I approach teaching and guidance: with curiosity, clarity, and a deep appreciation for the many ways people seek growth and meaning in their lives.

Yoga, for me, is not simply something that happens on a mat. It is a way of cultivating awareness, resilience, and connection that gradually informs how we live, work, and relate to one another.

Personal Guidance

I offer personal guidance in yoga, meditation, and embodied practice for individuals who want to explore their path with greater clarity and intention.

Our work together may include private yoga sessions, breath and meditation practices, reflective dialogue, and practical exploration of how insights from practice can be integrated into daily life. Some people come seeking deeper engagement with yoga and meditation; others are navigating transitions, creative projects, or questions about how to live and contribute more intentionally.

Each engagement is collaborative and tailored to the individual, drawing from the wisdom of yoga traditions while remaining grounded in the realities of modern life.

Private Yoga

Individual or small group sessions designed to support your unique needs. Sessions may integrate movement, meditation, breathwork, and reflective guidance.

Meditation Instruction

Personalized guidance for beginners and experienced practitioners, grounded in ancient yogic techniques and modern mindfulness. Practices are adapted to your level, your life, and your available time. The focus is on managing the mind with steadiness and compassion, establishing a practice that feels authentic and can deepen naturally over time.

Personal Sadhana (Practice Design + Support)

A personalized Kriya Yoga sadhana (daily practice) created in alignment with your intentions and life context. Himalayan Kriya Yoga is a powerful system of practice designed to help you move energy and shift deeply ingrained patterns of thought and behavior. Practices are typically structured over 21 or 40 days, with ongoing check-ins to support integration, clarity, and steady inner development.

Mentoring for Resilience, Personal Growth and Reinvention

Support for people struggling to hold center in this turbulent world, navigating major transitions in life or simply trying to rediscover the joy of being alive. Together, we explore both the inner vision and the practical structure needed to bring your work into grounded form.
