Our Story

Our Story

We met in 2021 and quickly recognized so much that felt familiar in one another — including a shared devotion to the path of yoga.

We had both been practicing for most of our adult lives, shaped by steady, embodied practice and a genuine curiosity about the deeper dimensions of living.

As our relationship deepened, so did our shared practice. After the first of two transformational experiences traveling to India together to study yoga, we felt inspired to begin sharing practices as a teaching partnership. What began as something we were exploring side by side has gradually evolved to include co-guided offerings, continued learning, and a growing sense that this work was meant to be expressed not only individually, but also together.

We aspire to live our yoga in the everyday — in how we move through the world, in the small, simple moments that make up a life. We live in the woods and spend a lot of time outside—walking with Bill’s dog Charlie, tending to the land around our home, and finding ways to stay connected to nature. Lexie loves working in the gardens and growing flowers; Bill is the woodsman. We run on trails, paddle the Haw River when we can, and like to gather around the table with whichever of our four grown-ish kids happen to be nearby.

Our practices have unfolded alongside careers, parenting, and all the responsibilities that come with being human.

That has shaped the way we approach practice — steady, integrated, and grounded in real life. Before stepping more fully into teaching, Bill spent three decades as an attorney, while Lexie’s background in public relations and public health informs her community-centered way of holding space.

For nearly a decade, Lexie founded and stewarded Yoga Garden Pittsboro. Over time, the space grew into a beloved community — a place where steady practice, meaningful connection, and long-term relationships took root. In the later years, Bill became a regular presence there as well — teaching, guiding Kriya Yoga Journeys, co-managing the studio, and holding Men’s Circle.

Soma Yoga emerged from a meaningful chapter of teaching and community, and a clear sense that it was time to carry this work forward in a new way —

One that feels both personal and connected, and rooted in what matters most to us.
